Not Working Hard, But Working Smart
If you sit at the desk for 10 hours a day and get only 2 hours of efficiency, there is a mistake in your method. Our brain's focus span is limited. Here are two popular techniques that increase efficiency:
1. Pomodoro Technique
It is the most effective method for time management. Its basic logic is "keeping the mind fresh with short breaks".
- 25 Minutes Lesson: Focus only on the lesson, phone off.
- 5 Minutes Break: Get up from the desk, drink water, stretch.
- After 4 Cycles: Take a long break of 30 minutes.
This method breaks the work into small pieces and makes it easier for those who say "studying seems daunting".
2. Feynman Technique
The best way to understand if you have really learned a subject is to explain it to someone else. Famous physicist Richard Feynman's technique consists of 4 steps:
- Study the subject.
- Explain the subject simply to someone who doesn't know it at all (or an imaginary student).
- Identify the places where you get stuck or cannot explain.
- Go back to the source, study those parts again, and explain again by simplifying.
If you can't explain something simply, you haven't understood it well enough.
